Once upon a time,
in 1957, two gifted composers, by the names of Richard
Rodgers, and Oscar Hammerstein were the toast of Broadway.
The American television network CBS (Central Broadcasting Station) commissioned them to create a brand new, Broadway-style show, that was family-friendly, and be adapted for live television. Their answer was a musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson fairy-tale, Cinderella. Recruiting a talented cast, led by a newer actress, Julie Andrews, who was quickly becoming the toast of Broadway.
The show was an instant success, and went on to be remade for television twice (the 1965, Leslie Ann Warren version, and most recently, the 1997 Brandy version.). It has also had three major theater reincarnations, including the orginal Broadway production, which premiered at The Broadway Theater in 2013 (this is the version that we will proudly be presenting to you in April).
